PIERCE COUNTY | CHARTER REVIEW | DISTRICT 1
What is a Charter Review Commission?
The Charter Review Commission is a 21-member assembly of non-partisan citizens, elected every ten years, to evaluate the effectiveness of the Pierce County Charter. The Pierce County Charter outlines the structure and responsibilities of Pierce County government. The Commission’s primary function is to review the Charter and determine if updates or modifications are needed to better reflect the needs and interests of the community it serves. If the Commission identifies areas for improvement, they develop proposed amendments to the Charter, which are then placed on the ballot for voters in Pierce County to approve or reject.
